Season 2021 - 2022 IS GO!

05 Aug 2021

Hi All

We hope everyone is keeping well and enjoying the summer. Just a quick update as we look ahead to the new season.

Club Day – 28th August 2pm – 4pm @ Clarence Park.

We will play fun, friendly mixed games on the 28th. Picktime has now been updated to include this session so please update your availability if you are planning to attend, so we can maintain our attendance records, and gauge numbers.  Please bring a white and dark top, so we don’t have to use bibs and, obviously, your own kit to avoid sharing.

After the hockey we are meeting in the Plough and Harrow at 5pm for some sociable drinks – all welcome.

Pitch Availability and Access to Training.

We are keen to return to Woollams as soon as we can, and in response to the EGM discussions, to increase the amount of pitch time available in line with increased player numbers. However, Woollams have not yet confirmed pitch availability, and given the proximity of the start of the new season we will begin at Clarence Park.

We anticipate that we will be at CP through to the end of September, moving back to Woollams in October. Unfortunately, as you may recall, Clarence Park has strict time restrictions – so we will not be able to increase pitch time beyond 6-8pm until we revert to Woollams. Whilst this is frustrating, it will give us time to accurately monitor training attendance to ensure suitable provision can be made going forwards.

We will commence on pitch training on the 17th (W) and 18th (M) of August, 6pm – 8pm.

Next Tuesday (10th) will be the final pre-season fitness session – 7.30 @ Rothamsted - meet at the cricket pavilion.

Juniors will re start on Sunday (M, G) and Monday (B) 5th and 6th September and Kevin Ellis, Head of Juniors, will communicate the full details to the junior parents in due course.

HHC Officers and Open Positions

Cat and Steph have now stepped down as Women’s Club Captains and the club is delighted to announce the Karen Bunbury, Sue Presence and Kim Seward have volunteered to take on the role.

Nick McLean is also stepping back as Men’s Club Captain and Bob Voyce will take over going forwards.

There remain a number of open roles across the club committee, in particular Club Secretary, Communications Officer, and Social Secretary. The club can only progress and thrive with the support of its members, so if anyone would like to find out more about any of these positions, or get more involved in the running of the club more generally, then please speak to any current member of the committee.

Looking forward to an exciting, successful and hopefully uninterrupted season!
