This month we take a look at Harpenden Hockey Club's newest team, the Ladies 3s who had a fantastic month of October where they recorded 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss - including their last match a 7-0 victory! We caught up with their Captain Caroline (pictured) to ask about the start to the season ...
HHC Ladies 3’s team have had a brilliant start to the 2020-21 hockey season. The team has been introduced this year and is a mixture of members from our back-to-hockey crew and those juniors that are ready to step up and play senior hockey, with an L2’s team player joining us, when available, to provide the structure and guidance that we need. It’s been a great mix of those that are looking to pick up a stick again together with younger players who are looking to develop game-play and endurance whilst enjoying league matches.
We’ve started the season strongly only conceding one match to date, drawing another and enjoying some storming wins – including our final match win at 7-0. We are currently 2nd in our league and were in a strong position to take on our top of the league clash before the temporary suspension of the season due to lockdown 2.0.
I’ve been really proud of the fact that despite the age range of the team we have really united as a group. We have fun on the hockey pitch and we all work really hard for each other during our games. We are still developing as we get to know which positions suit us and build our confidence, so I’m excited to see what the end of the season will bring when we can finally return and pick-up sticks again.
