| HARPENDEN
IV: 3
BISHOPS STORTFORD VI: 4
22.10.05
Despite an gutsy and hardworking performance
from a young side, Harpenden narrowly came out on the wrong side
of a seven-goal thriller on Saturday.
A strong
first half performance saw Harpenden lead for the most of the
time, with Michael Edmond and Dan Carter netting one a piece.
However, at the half time break the scores were 2-2 . The play
in the first half showed what promise this developing team has,
with the work ethic of ex-footballer Graham Dean showing young
rising stars of Nick Johnson, Richard Hurle and Dan Lester, to
name but a few, how hockey is not just about skill but hard work
too.
The second half showed much promise, Bishop Stortford put conserted
pressure on the Harpenden goal and secured a 2 goal lead. But
that was not the end of the story; Harpenden never gave up and
with fine linking play Michael Edmond emerged from his midfield
role to bag another for Harpenden. The game ended with a 4-3 defeat
for Harpenden. Neil Liles, Harpenden's sideline maetro is not
downhearted “I have seen enough quality , enthusiasm
and youthful promise to be convinced this side will grow from
strength to strength.”
