WINCHMORE HILL & ENFIELD: 0
07.10.06
Fortress Brache is a name which should
start to send shivers down the spines of all who come to visit
Harpenden 4ths squad on their home pitch this season. Three wins
on the bounce now and the "lucky orange shirts" will
be worn for at least another game.
Revenge from last season was upheld over the Winchmore Hill gang
and its fair to say in this case experience alone did not pay
off. Rob Cole's season ticket to the Harpenden 4's matches is
currently worth every penny he's paid, as he saw 5 well crafted
goals this week. With the squads confidence growing week by week
there may be more games like this to come. The unbeaten defence
not only kept a clean sheet but showed their skills with some
great forward runs as well. Ben Wain, Adam Cole, Jon Pagan, Stuart
Berry and Ian "the rock" Beggs again proving that youth
and experience is a great combination within the fourths squad.
Once they had full control of any breakaway attacks by the Winch
they
would push on and help the midfield apply the pressure needed
to aid the front men in scoring the goals which led to a comfortable
victory. The midfield again shone with some great inter play and
stamina by Neil
"midfield maestro" Berry, Graham "roadrunner"
Dean, Dave "Blood bin"
Wain and aided with a great performance by Ben Williams. Neil
Berry the pick of the midfield this week with 2 goals taken in
style, the second a bouncing beauty!! Mike "goals" Edmond
lead the front line in style scoring two terrific goals but the
unsung hero of the day has to be Mikes strike partner Dan "the
provider" Carter, with his relentless running and holding
up of play each time he received the ball. The other goal came
from Dave Wain. A mention must go to Simon Bates and Ryan Ely.
Their entrances to the game showed the depth in this squad is
at a high level with all substitutions this week making positive
contributions to the team.
Its off to Rickmansworth next week and an early start, but with
confidence
running high in the squad and the "lucky orange shirts"
in transit lets
hope the winning run can continue.
