Match Report

HARPENDEN IV: POSTPONED
STEVENAGE V:
18.11.06

Harpenden miss out on 3 points as Stevenage run scared.

Not much to report here due to Harpenden being bullied by a large gentleman in a large yellow jacket as Stevenage got what they came for
though, a postponement. Although the Harpenden generosity did appear to
overwhelm the away team as it was agreed to a 20 minute each way
"friendly" where it became obvious as to why Stevenage did not want the
league game.

Harpenden took it to them, scoring before the "guests" had even touched
the ball, finishing the game 6-0 winners from the 40 minute farce.
I will mention no names during this report due to the nature in which
the game was played.

Moment of the match - the final whistle finishing 6-0 up.
Man of the Match - the whole squad. (one big unit - and for a change
that doesn't mean Beasty).

The one thing worth mentioning here was post match warm down. Harpenden 4's rise to success so far this season has coincided with a much more bonded team. The banter and fun between all involved has proved to be a driving force this season and so it was no surprise to see most of the
squad out after the game enjoying a few drinks and a curry. Long may this continue. Xmas is just round the corner and so I am sure there will be another opportunity to enjoy watching everyone trying to balance a menu on their heads, or listen to the provider tell us how slim and athletic he was when he was young, or indeed listen to Beasty as he tells us how he ran the London Marathon 5 years ago.

The provider and Bigrobsubmanager talk tactics 5 hours after the game
has not even been played anyway, mixed in with the Beast and Nat-King
trying to work out how they can claim assists for every goal so far this
season.

I have been asked this season for special mentions in match reports and
usually I have decided special mentions are only really meant for me,
however, this week I have to give a special mention to Mrs Elder as she
endured a night of drunken men in a curry house telling each other how
good they are at hockey. Mrs Elder, it was a pleasure to meet you.

Next week sees the "lucky orange shirts" play away to Winchmore Hill and
Enfield. As we're top of the league and undefeated teams will be trying
even harder to beat us so a big effort by all for this game is needed.
Without the Beast it will be hard but keep those chins up and good luck.
