WAPPING: 5
HARPENDEN: 0

19.02.05

Harpenden failed to continue their recent run of good form, when they suffered an embarrassing 5-0 defeat to league champions Wapping.

Wapping were quick to capitalise on Harpenden mistakes and both first half goals came from lapses of concentration. The first came from a short corner that was saved by keeper Alan Clarke which Harpenden failed to clear and the second came when Harpenden left a Wapping player with too much space at the top of the D from what should have been an innocuous side line hit.

2-0 down at half time, Harpenden knew they had a chance to get back into the game, but it was going to take a big change in the balance of the play or a slice of luck. Neither came. Wapping continued to dominate and added a further three goals in the second half.

Harpenden play host to Upminster on Saturday and realistically need a win to keep their promotion chances alive.
