Harpenden made it three wins on the trot, took their unbeaten run to 6 league games and climbed to third in the league table with an impressive victory against a talented Bedford side.

Harpenden started confidently and didn’t have to wait long for the first goal. Skipper Mike Emes continued where he left off the previous week, with a drag flicked goal from the first short corner. Emes then took his goal tally to 7 in 3 games with another drag flick from the next short corner.

Harpenden made it three when Russell Timms fed the ball to, man of the match, Lance Boyd Clark. Lance Boyd Clark scored his first for the club by rounding the keeper in style and slotting the ball home. Harpenden made it four before half time when an Ali Hutson deflection made sure that Mike Emes’ strike at goal wasn’t going to miss.

This was a dream half for the Harpenden outfit and they knew the result was virtually sealed. The fifth goal from Harpenden killed the game off. Nigel Timms’ first time strike from his brother’s through ball was enough to beat the keeper and secure the three points.

Bedford fought back well to score two consolation goals, one from the flick spot and the other from a well worked short corner. Harpenden now have a well earned rest before facing Vauxhall in a local derby match up the following week where they will hope to continue their recent
