Match Report

GORE COURT : 3
Harpenden: 2
10.11.07

Harpenden started brightly in their latest league match against Gore Court.  They moved the ball with confidence and competence pinning the opposition back into their own half for a good spell. The forward line took turns in harassing the Gore Court goalie with the best chance to going 1-0 up falling to Sabrina Jayasseelan.  Unfortunately the pressure was not able to be converted until a few moments later when Karen Lincoln finally slotted the ball home from a well improvised short corner.

Minutes later, a lapse in concentration in the Harps defence led to Gore Court slotting home their first goal of the game from a quickly taken free hit outside the D that was neatly deflected at the far post.

Harps fought back and again held the play in the oppositions half. When Julia Power slotted the ball past the goalkeeper, Harps thought they were 2-1 up but the goal was regrettably disallowed.

A motivating team talk at half time sent Harps out with renewed vigor and the want to score more goals but unfortunately this was not to be as Gore Court managed to inch their way into the Harps D to unexpectedly score another deflection.  Somewhat miffed, Harps upped their game once more and were rewarded when Jo Frankish slammed the ball home to equalize.  Looking more and more likely to score and settle the game once and for all Harps continued to take the game to the opposition.  It was to no avail however as the one chance Gore Court got, they took – the ball saved initially but the rebound shot devilishly deflecting off the Harps keeper’s pads and into the corner of the goal.  A disappointing day and a long journey home but Harps now look to their next game away against local team Hertford.
