Harpenden: 3

Harpenden continued their excellent start to the season with a victory over Kent visitors, Canterbury 2A’s. Harps dominated the first half of the game with some excellent possession hockey; scoring the opening goal from a short corner which was touched home by Nic Pendleton. Maintaining the good work rate, the Harps midfield and forward lines pressured the Canterbury ‘D’ looking for the next goal but to no avail as the Canterbury keeper’s reactions kept the ball out of the back of the net.
The second half of the game continued much in the same way with Harpenden pressing forward and working back behind the ball well if possession was lost. Canterbury made several good runs forward but were kept at bay by the organised Harps defence. The next goal came from some good link play between Laura Jackson and Karen Lincoln, the latter slipping the ball home past the keeper to take the score to 2-0. The third goal was the result of some open play and again goal mouth pressure resulting in a penalty flick for the home side. Karen Lincoln coolly slotted the ball home taking the score to 3-0 to finish off a positive performance by the home side. Next week Harps ladies travel away to BBHC (Bexleyheath & Belvedere Hockey Club) for a 2pm start at Erith School
