Match Report

Bromley & beckenham: 0
Harpenden: 3
03.11.07

Harpenden Ladies 1st XI hosted the Kent side Bromley and Beckenham in the first November game of the 2007/08 season.  Harpenden were put under considerable pressure from the whistle, with the opposition playing some quick, structured hockey.  Neither team however really threatened each others goals keeping the scoreline to 0-0 at the break.

After a half time team talk from the Harps coach, the team came out to face the second half focused and determined.  The Harps forward line worked hard across and up and down the pitch to pressure the ball backed up by the midfield and defensive lines who continued to break down any attacks from the Bromley and Beckenham forwards.  The sustained pressure from the home side eventually resulted in Harps winning a series of short corners.  Three of these were converted by deflections from Laura Jackson, Jo Frankish and Karen Lincoln.  Georgia Naden earned a well deserved player of the match following some fantastic running and tackles throughout the game.
