Match Report

Vauxhall Chiltern: 3
Harpenden: 3
13.01.07

Harpenden ladies 1st XI wanted to make amends for the previous week’s poor performance after the Christmas break. A slow start to the game however left Harps shell shocked and 1-0 down.

After a 15 minutes spell of better hockey, Harp’s pulled 2 goals back with some excellent attacking play and shortly after the half time break it was soon 3-1.

Not be counted out however, Chiltern fought back and it didn’t take long for Harpenden’s lead to lessen to 3-2. Keeper Meade came up with some excellent saves which kept Harps in the lead; saves which Harpenden thought were match winning, but with 3 minutes left on the clock the inevitable happened and Chiltern scored a scrappy goal to even the score.

2 points from 8 is not a good start after the Christmas break and Harps need to regain their composure if they are to stay in touch with the promotion places!

Harp’s take on Winchester away in the Vase competition tomorrow before facing Letchworth in next Saturday’s league match.

Team: Emily Meade (GK), Claire Gardner, Caroline Connell, Jo Frankish, Karen Slough, Georgia Naden, Vicky Borman, Jac Smith (C), Louisa England, Julia Bradley, Karen Lincoln & Vicky Quinn
