2017/18 Season is approaching...

13 Aug 2017

Calling all ladies ...

I hope you have been enjoying the summer (or so called, not that you'd recognise it from the weather!) and either a nice break from hockey, or the occasional runaround at Southgate on Tuesday nights.

The 2017 season is now fast approaching and we very much hope that you are looking forward to another great season this year. Jane will once again be leading our training sessions on Tuesday nights from 7.30-9pm. Due to the pitch being relaid at Woollams, we believe the original sessions and league matches will be played at Clarence Park until we have confirmation of availability back at our usual 'home'.

It would be enormously helpful for us in managing teams for this year, if you could reply to this email with your plans for playing this season - for example if you are intending on being available to play throughout the season, or you are going to be away at university, just returning and wanting to play again, hoping to play but have restricted availability etc. It all helps with planning and getting a clearer picture of how things stand with regards to team selections.

First training session

TUES 22nd AUGUST - 7:30pm - please be there if you can.

Pre-season fixtures

SAT 2nd SEPTEMBER - 12:30pm Away v Beford

*SAT 9th SEPTEMBER - Ladies' Club Day* - in the form of 2 matches - 12 noon Home v Welwyn (L2) and 1:30pm Home v West Hampstead (L1) - players to arrive at 11:30am and should ideally be available to play in both matches, so that Jane can observe people playing, both individually and as part of a bigger team. Drinks at the Plough in the evening from around 7pm.

SAT 16th SEPTEMBER - (L1) Away v High Wycombe (time tbc) - (L2) Fixture tbc

SUN 17th SEPTEMBER - (L1) Away v Crostyx - triangular tournament

SAT 23rd SEPTEMBER - League matches start for both teams

Social

SAT 9th SEPTEMBER - After club day, drinks at the Plough & Harrow in Southdown from 7pm. Details of more social arrangements to follow...

We are always on the lookout for new players - whether they be new to Harpenden, or past members looking to return. Do spread the word about our club - we may be on the small side (in comparison to our local neighbours), but we are a lovely bunch! Give me a shout if you know of anyone interested in joining us, whatever their hockey background.

If you are receiving this email and would rather not, then let me know and I'll ask for your details to be removed from the club database.

That's all for now - hope to see you on a pitch soon!
