TOUR DE FORCE
16.8.04
It all started with Blackpool at Easter and ended with
Purley in August with Islanders, Milton Keynes, Sonning and Wayfarers
in between.
Harpenden HC took a mixed team for the first year up
to the sunny Blackpool Easter Hockey Festival. An eventful 4 days
saw some superb minibus driving skills, a practical demonstration
on how to do all night drinking and breakfasting in the morning
from the Drink and Die Hard Crew, visits to strip clubs, a trip
to hospital in an ambulance, fancy dress, some nudity, sunburn,
arguments and everything that would make a News of the World front
cover!
Despite all the going on’s some hockey was played and the
team performed remarkably well to finish joint 6th out of 33,
including the Mighty (only in name) Luton who sadly only finished
15th!
As for Islanders in Portsmouth, the girls team comprising mainly
of Harps players finished winners of the Plate competition, with
the men finishing 3rd in the Cup competition.
Many thanks to Benno Brind and everyone else who has helped out
organising all of the tours this year; keep a look out on the
website for details of next year's events!
